Assanges Extradition Trial Nears Its End

Assange's Extradition Trial Nears Its End

Two British Judges to Rule on Tuesday

Five Key Facts to Know

The extradition trial of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is nearing its end, with two British judges set to rule on Tuesday whether he should be sent to the United States to face charges related to the publication of classified documents.

Assange, 52, has been held in Belmarsh Prison in London since his arrest in 2019.

Kristinn Hrafnsson, editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks, said at a news briefing last week that Mr. Assange was first arrested in Britain in 2010 on a Swedish warrant over sex crime allegations that were later dropped.

The British High Court in London rules WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange should be allowed to appeal against his extradition to the United.

"I have the sense that anything could happen at this stage," his wife Stella said.
